Arab Identities

NU-Q Media Majlis

Challenge standard narratives that define Arab identities.

Unified Field worked with the team at the Media Majlis in Doha, Qatar on their inaugural exhibit, ‘Arab Identities’. The Media Majlis is an active museum space that brings people together to engage with exhibitions and programs that challenge standard narratives and inspire conversation about stories and ideas. The exhibition creates a context in which visitors can explore their own understanding of identity, while considering how images in film have shaped, and been shaped by, notions of Arab identity. The exhibit encourages visitor participation and engagement with rich stories, both official and lesser heard voices, and the people who have and are creating our world in the region and globally. Unified Field worked closely with the museum interpreters, curators and subject matter experts to conceptualize, design, produce, install and document this media-based exhibit. Not only is this museum unique in the region, the subject matter and cultural response required careful curation and sensitivity.
